Sized against ABYC E-11. The design current is the part's continuous draw. The length is one way; voltage drop includes an equal-length return.
Run-length and manufacturer assumptions
The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.
Supporting parts
- 6.1 m total of 1.5 mm² (16 AWG) marine cable
- Terminations for 1.5 mm² cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
- 15 A fuse and holder on the positive run
- Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable
Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Match RNG-320D revision V1.4
Renogy's V1.4 RNG-320D sheet describes a 320 W, 60-cell rigid monocrystalline panel. Its exact-model table gives 32.7 V Vmp, 9.79 A Imp, 40.10 V Voc and 10.36 A Isc. The catalog has been aligned with that edition, correcting the previous 33.7 V / 9.5 A operating point. Check an older panel's label before assuming every production revision is identical. See datasheet, page 2.
The same sheet specifies 1665 × 1002 × 35 mm and 18 kg. Those are physical panel dimensions, unrelated to the canvas symbol size.
Connect a controller and check the string voltage
This is a higher-voltage panel even when used in a nominal 12 V installation. Connect it through an MPPT controller suitable for the battery and array. The controller must accept the complete string's cold-weather open-circuit voltage, not merely the 32.7 V working voltage.
The verified Voc temperature coefficient is −0.30%/°C. Cold cells increase the 40.10 V STC value. Add panel voltages for series strings; for parallel strings add the currents and assess possible reverse current into a faulted string. The module's 1000 V maximum system voltage does not override the controller's lower rating.
Select protection and extensions from the actual hardware
The maximum series-fuse rating is 15 A. It is a ceiling for module protection, not a universal instruction to install a 15 A fuse. Determine whether string fuses are needed from the array arrangement and size them with the cable, controller and installation requirements.
The panel has 12 AWG, approximately 3 ft output leads, a junction box with two bypass diodes and locking solar connectors. The separate 30 A connector rating does not increase the 15 A module-fuse ceiling. Match extension connectors to the actual fitted manufacturer/type, support their weight, and keep mating surfaces clean and dry.
Mount and commission the array
Use the intended frame mounting locations, preserve drainage and ventilation, and select a support suitable for the roof and wind loads. Do not lift the panel by its leads or unplug connectors under load. Renogy's family installation manual, sections 2.1.2 and 2.2.3, covers mounting and system connection.
Follow the controller's sequence; the Renogy example connects and configures the battery before connecting PV. Verify polarity and open-circuit voltage before energizing, then check charging under sunlight. The 320 W rating is an STC rating, not a guaranteed battery-side output in every season or mounting position.
