Wiring diagram
DC power path for the LiFePO4 Smart 200Ah.
The drawing includes the required battery-management and load-disconnect hardware. Battery data and shutdown control leads are not represented by these symbols; use the complete manufacturer instructions to connect and test them.
DC power-path sizing
The example supplies a small fridge circuit through compatible battery management and load-disconnect hardware. Its power paths do not verify the required BMS communication, remote control or shutdown behavior.
Cable sizes depend on the connected equipment, current and cable lengths. Add those details in Crimp to size each run.

Identify the 12.8 V Smart battery
This is the 12.8 V, 200 Ah Lithium Battery Smart, requiring a compatible external Victron BMS. It is a different generation from Lithium NG; Bluetooth monitoring and internal cell balancing do not provide a complete load/charger disconnect system. The technical table, printed pages 35–36, specifies 200 Ah at 25°C, 160 Ah at 0°C and 100 Ah at −20°C.
Interpret current limits
The model permits 400 A maximum continuous discharge, with 200 A recommended. Maximum charging is 400 A, while 100 A is recommended. Crimp retains the recommended charging value and maximum discharge value. Both must be reduced if the selected BMS, protection, cables or connected equipment have lower limits. A 400 A discharge rating alone does not select a fuse or establish connector ampacity.
Install the power and BMS wiring
Use the M8 power terminals at 14 Nm, with the cable lug directly against the terminal and washers above it. Mount indoors in a dry location, upright or on its side, never with terminals facing down. Leave 20 mm ventilation space on all four sides. See installation, printed page 16.
The two M8 three-pole BMS leads are control connectors, separate from the power terminals. Daisy-chain them through the bank and return both ends to the BMS. Arrange positive-side protection and ensure every load and charging source responds to the BMS's allow-to-discharge and allow-to-charge signals. Test those shutdown paths before putting the bank into service.
Charge and combine batteries correctly
Use 14.2 V absorption for two hours, 13.5 V float and no charger temperature compensation. Charging is allowed at +5 to +50°C; discharge at −20 to +50°C. The low-temperature charge interlock must control all sources, including alternator and solar charging. See charging, printed pages 23–24.
Charge and balance individual batteries before series connection. The manual permits up to four 12.8 V batteries in series and 20 batteries total. Fuse individual parallel batteries or series strings and the main positive feed, maintain balanced current paths, and avoid midpoint loads. Follow the bank diagrams and commissioning procedure, printed pages 17–21, rather than treating the canvas's two terminals as a complete BMS installation.
