Cable sizing for this example
Use the diagram as a starting point for your installation. Replace the example equipment and cable lengths with your own, and check the connections against your exact model's instructions.
Cable sizes depend on the connected equipment, current and cable lengths. Add those details in Crimp to size each run.

Match the original Smart battery
This is the RBT100LFP12S Smart 12 V 100 Ah, matching the pictured case with covered RJ45 ports. Renogy's download center identifies that SKU; the former catalog suffix “-BT” was not a supported model identifier. This generation uses an external Renogy Bluetooth module for phone monitoring. The self-heating RBT100LFP12SH and newer Pro batteries have different instructions. See Renogy's manual directory and Smart manual, printed page 8.
Connect power and monitoring separately
The power terminals use M8 × 1 × 15 mm bolts, with 7–8 Nm recommended torque. Put lugs against the terminal and washers above them; check that bolts clamp the lug without bottoming out. Keep the battery dry, cool and ventilated. Size external cables and protection for the actual circuit. The published maxima are 50 A continuous charging and 100 A continuous discharge; Crimp's larger terminal planning allowance does not increase them. See specifications, printed page 17.
The RJ45 sockets carry RS485, not network Ethernet. For a communicating bank, link each battery's LINK socket to the next battery's UP socket using the specified straight-through CAT5-or-better lead. Attach the monitoring accessory to the first battery's UP socket.
Keep this model out of series banks
Renogy prohibits series connection. Parallel only matching chemistry, model, voltage and capacity, with equal-length interconnects and opposite-end system takeoffs. Avoid large voltage differences before joining batteries. The manual recommends no more than four parallel batteries when using auto-balancing; it does not justify a larger bank merely because the connector can accept another lead.
Activate and charge correctly
Keep the battery in shelf mode during installation. After checking connections, activate it with charging or the activation switch on the UP port. Use a LiFePO4 charger at 14.4 V, staying below 50 A. The standard charging example uses 20 A and tapers to 2 A; that example is not the maximum rating. Charging requires 0–55°C and discharge −20–60°C. This manual does not establish self-heating. See operation, printed pages 10–12.
After low-charge shutdown, disconnect loads and recharge promptly. For storage, disconnect the system before using shelf mode; a protective BMS trip does not remove every possible drain.
