Cable sizing for this example

Use the diagram as a starting point for your installation. Replace the example equipment and cable lengths with your own, and check the connections against your exact model's instructions.

Cable sizes depend on the connected equipment, current and cable lengths. Add those details in Crimp to size each run.

Identify the self-heating Pro battery

The catalog photo and Renogy's manual match RBT12200LFP-BT, the 12.8 V, 200 Ah Pro Smart LiFePO4 with self-heating and Bluetooth. The former RBT200LFP12-LT-G2 label has been corrected while preserving the component ID. Check the full nameplate before applying these instructions to another Renogy 200 Ah battery. See model identification, printed page 1.

Distinguish recommended and maximum current

The specification table, printed page 16, gives 200 A maximum continuous charge, 100 A recommended charge, and 200 A maximum continuous discharge. Crimp uses the recommended 100 A charging value. 270 A for 30 seconds is a short peak rating, not continuous capacity. The catalog's terminal allowance does not authorize loads above the battery's continuous limit.

Set charging to 14.4 V with a suitable LiFePO4 profile. Protective BMS thresholds, including cell undervoltage and overvoltage trips, are fault limits rather than charger setpoints or normal operating targets.

Make the power connections

Use M8 × 1.25 × 12 mm bolts, or the supplied 16 mm bolts where the lug stack requires them, at 8 Nm. The lug sits directly against the terminal with washers above it. Protect and support the cables, cover the terminals, and provide external fusing and an accessible disconnect. The internal self-control fuse and BMS do not remove those installation requirements. See terminal and system diagrams, printed pages 7–8.

Secure the 23 kg battery in a suitable location. Its IP67 specification does not replace the manual's requirements to avoid water exposure, heat sources and damaged cable connections.

Provide enough charging current for heating

The heater requires a stable charging current greater than 6 A per battery. It starts below 5°C and stops above 10°C. Weak solar input may therefore be insufficient, especially in a parallel bank. The printed −20 to +55°C charging range depends on the complete heating/protection system operating correctly; it is not permission to charge frozen cells without heating. Discharge is specified at −20 to +60°C. See heating, printed page 13.

Expand only in parallel

This model is parallel-only, maximum eight matching batteries. Do not series-connect it to make 24 or 48 V. Balance batteries before connection, use equal cable lengths/current paths, and observe the manual's restrictions on mixing models, capacities and ages. Confirm Bluetooth readings and normal charge/discharge operation after wiring; wireless monitoring does not replace electrical protection.
