Cable sizing for this example
Use the diagram as a starting point for your installation. Replace the example equipment and cable lengths with your own, and check the connections against your exact model's instructions.
Cable sizes depend on the connected equipment, current and cable lengths. Add those details in Crimp to size each run.

Identify the original Safari UT 1300
This walkthrough uses Lion Energy's archived Safari UT 1300, 12.8 V / 105 Ah / 1344 Wh manual. It matches the original battery generation shown in the catalog. Later Bluetooth versions must be checked against their own documentation. The filename contains 20201216; the document itself prints no revision identifier.
Use operating limits rather than protection trips
The electrical table, page 4, specifies 150 A maximum continuous discharge, 100 A maximum charge, 45 A standard charging current and 14.6 V maximum charging voltage. Crimp's 80 A charging allowance is a conservative planning value, not the manufacturer's maximum. Its 200 A terminal envelope likewise does not raise the battery's 150 A continuous limit.
The table lists overcurrent protection above 150 A for more than 50 seconds and a 10 V low-voltage cutoff. Those are protective responses; design normal operation to remain within the continuous limits and stop before exhausting the battery. The manual recommends keeping sustained charge/discharge at or below 0.5C and discharge depth within 80% to improve life. See page 6.
Wire and secure the battery
Connect the marked positive and negative power terminals with correctly fitted lugs, protected cables and battery-side overcurrent protection. This edition does not provide a verified terminal tightening torque, so obtain the value for the actual terminal hardware before final assembly. Secure the battery and keep it dry; do not assume a later generation's enclosure rating applies.
A protection shutdown does not replace an accessible system disconnect. For a non-responsive battery, the manual describes holding the top button for three seconds. If a short circuit caused the shutdown, remove the fault first and follow the distinct reset sequence on page 5.
Charge and assemble a bank
Charge only within 0–45°C and discharge within −20–55°C. Use a lithium-compatible charger that respects the voltage/current limits; do not enable lead-acid equalization. Independently fully charge each battery before connecting a bank.
The manual permits no more than four batteries in series. Its diagrams show series and parallel arrangements; they do not establish unlimited parallel capacity. Series batteries must charge and discharge together, with no uneven midpoint load. Confirm larger-bank limits with Lion Energy and design balanced current paths and protection. See bank instructions, pages 5–6.
