Cable sizing for this example

Use the diagram as a starting point for your installation. Replace the example equipment and cable lengths with your own, and check the connections against your exact model's instructions.

Sized against ABYC E-11. The design current is the part's continuous draw. The length is one way; voltage drop includes an equal-length return.

Run-length and manufacturer assumptions

The editable example uses 3.048 m (10 ft) runs unless a shorter run is stated. Metric overviews round these to 3 m. Adapt the parts and lengths to your installation before choosing cable and protection.

Show sizes in AWG

Supporting parts

  1. 6.1 m total of 10 mm² (8 AWG) marine cable
  2. Terminations for 10 mm² cable, matched to the equipment's screw terminals, leads or studs
  3. 30 A fuse and holder on the positive run
  4. Heat-shrink, strain relief and terminal boots sized to the cable

Check stud sizes, fuse type, run length and how warm the space gets against the gear you actually have before you order.

Use the 12 V version

This entry represents ZEN 50 version 50Z12. The manual also covers 50Z24, which has different supply wiring and protection. The 12 V version permits ±15% supply variation. Its electrical installation section specifies 250 W continuous and 400 W peak; at nominal 12 V these correspond to about 20.8 A and 33.3 A. Production is nominally 50 L/h ±20% at 25°C seawater and 35,000 ppm salinity, not a guarantee in all conditions.

Power and control connections

Connect `+` and `−` to the battery supply clamps on the control-box board, not directly to the remote-panel connections. The manual specifies a 32 A automatic circuit breaker for 12 V, versus 16 A for 24 V. Its 12 V cable table gives 10 mm² up to 3 m, 16 mm² for 3–7 m and 25 mm² for 7–10 m; confirm how the actual route relates to the stated lengths and check installation derating.

Keep auxiliary circuits distinct

The EV terminals feed the flushing electrovalve; A/B/12/− serve the remote panel. These and the controller’s 400 mA fuse are separate from the main 32 A supply protection. The emergency microswitches must be off during normal operation. The diagram’s 35 A terminal ceiling is a rounded modeling envelope above the nominal peak, not a manufacturer connector-ampacity claim.

Start, flush and monitor

Follow the first-start purge procedure after installation, filter replacement or cleaning. Confirm inlet and discharge valves, cartridges and fresh-water flushing supply. Normal indicated working pressure is 7–8 bar; inspect for leaks at each start and investigate abnormal pressure. Use the prescribed flushing shutdown and storage treatment for long idle periods. The drawing omits pumps, hydraulic energy recovery, filters, valves and water-quality controls, so it cannot certify potable output or correct plumbing.
