Which Maxxfan is this wiring example for?

This is the Maxxfan Deluxe 7500K, a reversible roof fan with a powered lid and remote control. The Airxcel installation and operating guide includes this model. Dome, Mini, Compact and international KI variants have their own instructions; their fuse or voltage specifications should not be substituted for the 7500K.

How is the Deluxe 7500K wired to a 12 V supply?

One DC pair supplies the fan and lid mechanism. With vehicle power disconnected, connect the supplied leads using the provided insulated connectors. The tagged black (+) lead goes to positive; do not infer polarity from black insulation alone. The manual requires stranded cable and a circuit capable of supplying at least 5 A. Check available capacity if sharing a branch.

The protected path is house battery or distribution positive, branch fuse, fan positive, then the fan return back to the negative system. The simple starter draws this directly from a placeholder house bank. In an RV or campervan with a distribution panel, replace that source with the real branch and include the upstream feed when reviewing voltage drop.

What wire size does a Maxxfan Deluxe need?

Wire size depends on current, run length, voltage drop and installation conditions. Crimp uses a 5 A supply design allowance, following the manual's minimum service requirement. It is not a measured high-speed draw. The reviewed manual does not specify startup surge, so this catalog entry does not invent one.

The reference uses 3.048 m (10 ft) each way, shown as 3 m in the metric overview. The calculation includes positive and return conductors. Open the starter and enter the actual roof-to-panel route; do not use the total circuit length as the one-way input. Low-speed operation may use less power, but should not determine the supply cable for all fan settings.

Is a 5 A service requirement the same as a 5 A fuse?

No. The manual specifies supply capability and describes an onboard self-resetting fuse, but does not prescribe an external branch-fuse rating. The fuse displayed here is the engine's preliminary cable-protection example. Its current rating alone does not establish startup performance. Confirm the exact fuse, holder, cable and your unit's requirements.

The onboard device does not protect the full upstream cable. Use a protected distribution branch, such as one planned with the Blue Sea 5026. For a lithium bank, the fuse checker separates current rating from fault-interruption evidence. Read the methodology for the engine's sizing assumptions.
